safety and precautions

  • May generate heat on initial contact with water; always pre-wet with freshwater, not marine water.
  • Do not use in phosphate-buffered freshwater, as it will remove the buffer.
  • Avoid tumbling in media reactors to prevent dust production.
  • Keep out of reach of children and pets.

Direction

  • Use 85 mL (about 1/3 cup) for every 200 L (50 US gallons) of saltwater or 400 L (100 US gallons) of freshwater.
  • Pre-wet by adding to the double the volume of freshwater, then rinse before use
  • Place the water so that it flows through but does not tumble the media; a filter bag is recommended.
  • Leave for 4 days, then test phosphate/silicate; replace if the target (around 0.02 mg/L) is not reached. Otherwise, leave until levels climb again.
  • Continuous use of small quantities is preferable to large intermittent doses.
