- Imidacloprid and pyriproxyfen are the active components in Advantage II for Large Dogs. In order to paralyze and kill fleas, imidacloprid interferes with their nerve transmissions. Pyriproxyfen is an insect growth regulator that stops flea eggs and larvae from maturing into adult fleas, therefore upsetting the flea life cycle. By focusing on both adult fleas and their juvenile stages, this combination offers thorough flea control.
